Cassidy " C.A.S.H. " *Album Review*

Its been a while since we had a chance to hear Cassidy fill a set of headphones (hope you got them Beats by Dre) with that battle rap, street flow. We all know that you can't keep a good emcee down; they can only do that to themselves. Its good to see Cassidy, after dropping his Apply Pressure 2 mixtape, felt it was time to make a come back. Question is, "Did he come back at the right time or does his presence feel premature"?

There's no question Cassidy has always had an issue with hooks and substance. Cassidy has always been able to battle rap and freestyle, even if he was recycling punchlines and damn near full verses. His albums just never had the best beats or hooks. Yea a Swizz Swizz here, a Swizz Swizz there, but where's the momentum behind the fiya. He also suffered from the radio friendly thug loving rap r&b single conditioning that Fabolous is still stuck on. Come one fellas. Your rap bars will never compete with a Trey Songs album cover on the shelves next to yours, especially after he's had one of them Mango Peach Baby Oil Tyler Perry shoots for the cover-- pause. Can we just make an album for the street kats who bang out ya mixtapes?

Face 2 Face: All that shit I just said about the album above is voided after hearing this track. But then again, has Cass ever had an issue with album intros. Face 2 Face has a street knocking mood with an ill sample by Bink and some hard flow lyrics, right up until Cass's "Who I'd Like to see Battle" essay. Its a little too long for me. And I don't believe he'd really like to see Wayne vs Eminem... Em ftw!

Paper Up: I wonder why he named the song paper up. Maybe it was the repetitive chorus "Gotta gotta get my paper up". Cass, don't sing man. Beat is ill tho and Cass even helped produce it. Lyrics are strong too.
"I spit crack like pookie lips"

Monsta Muzik: MONSTER!! Definitely the type of stuff Cass should be spitting on. Bink beats fit his flow so well and this track is a perfect example. Cass goes in about being a MONSTA!

One Shot: You'll nod your heads to this one. You might even krip walk or try to do that heal toe and find a chick to grind up on. No Swizz didn't produce this, but it sounds like it, guess he rubbed off on Cassidy.

All Day All Night: Another nice beat with an impressive back and forth flow. The chorus could use some work though-- give that man some Zolof next time.

Girl Like Her: *facepalm* Girls will like this. Mya doesn't sound all that great on it, and the beat can be a little annoying and is casio sounding. Cass ain't cheating girl, believe him.

Drumma Bass: Cass is the man up in here. I like the reggae samples. this is definitely a club track. His flow is on point too.
"I know its a recession and alot of people down but I gotta keep it pushin, I ain't gotta bush to beat around"

Hate Me or Love Me: Okay, you may start to notice that all cassidy's produced tracks sound the same a little. Beat is okay. It sounds a little over produced. But the chorus can be addictive and his delivery is there. *Recycled Line ALERT!*

High Off Life: Another Club Track feat. Junior Reid w/ Cass using a Jamaican accent. It works a little. The song has no substance and he sounds a little like Jay-z on BP3 a little.

Awwww Shit: Finally, back to the street shit with the simple hood chorus. And he's got Red Cafe murdering bars on here. You'll definitely want to rewind them bars listening to this joint! Aaawww Shit! I don't know who Stoopid on the Beat is, but he's definitely stoopid on the beat!

Imma G Boy: Might be this albums Anthem track. The chorus is perfect. The beat is perfect for it. And the flow is insane. This may be my favorite track.

She Addicted: Here's a soft, street, chick song with an r&b feel that works for Cass. Its not annoying, until he repeats She Addicted like 7 times in a row, other than that, it's very tolerable.

Peace: Boi-1da went in on this track.  The song is pretty laid back and the flow from Cass really does hold some substance.  Every rapper has a story to tell and Cass does it here.  He's grown as a man and talks about not having to fight anymore.

Music In My Blood: You ever think to yourself "Why did he end the album on this track".  That about sums it up here.  He should have ended the album on Peace.  The production here is about about the keys and its pretty good.  Cass is on his shit talking steeze and it works.

So, did Cassidy finally make an album that is good all the way through? Did he finally make an album that represents the same emcee you hear on the mixtapes. Yes! And he did a good damn job. If you miss street albums, make sure you pick this one up. Cassidy definitely came back strong and the fact that he helped produce have the tracks on the album really shows his growth as an album. Keep doing your think Cass.
