Kendrick Lamar


Kendrick Lamar (born June 17, 1987)[1] is a rapper from Compton, California. His music is influenced by Tupac Shakur, Jay-Z, Nas and DMX.[2] He is a member of Black Hippy along with Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and Schoolboy Q.[3] He released an EP in 2009 titled The Kendrick Lamar EP, an aclaimed mixtape in 2010 titled O(verly) D(edicated) and plans to release his debut album Good Kid in a Mad City in 2011.
 Lamar spent all his childhood around the violence of the streets.[4] He was a "straight A" student in high school.[5] Kendrick Lamar released his first mixtape, Youngest Head Nigga In Charge at the age of 16 under the name K. Dot in 2003 which got him buzz in the area and got him noticed for the first time.[6] His first mixtape got him signed to a record deal with Top Dawg Entertainment.[7] After this he released his second mixtape "Training Day"

During late 2009 he released a self-titled EP; the Kendrick Lamar EP.[9] In late 2010 he toured with Tech N9ne and Jay Rock on The Independant Grind tour.[10] On September 23, 2010 he released a mixtape titled O(verly) D(edicated).[11] He has worked with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg on Dr. Dre's Detox album.[12] This came after Dre stated he would like to work with Lamar on Detox and Lamar's upcoming debut album titled Good Kid in a Mad City which will be released in 2011.[13] He has hinted at signing to Aftermath Entertainment.[14] He and J.
