You’ve always said Drake was your homie, and he stated in the past that he wanted you on his next album. Is that still happening?
To my knowledge [A Take Care Collaboration], is not happening. We’ve made contact with each other but all of my attempts to make something real happen have led to a dead end. I saw that he dedicated his BMI award to me and while that was a very noble and thoughtful gesture, I’d much rather he had dedicated himself to finishing a verse for one of me and 9th’s songs. That, to me, seems like a more tangible way of showing gratitude. But with that said, I’m still a fan and I think he’s an incredibly talented artist. When ‘Take Care’ drops, he’s got my money.
Phonte...Dude...You sound salty bruh, who sounds Zion-ish now?. This is Drake. This ain't Stevie Wonder on the plane dawg, this is Drake. Drake's fans don't have a 10th the ounce of respect that your fans (the ones you didn't piss off by doing a song with Lil B) have for you. You shouldn't be begg...asking Drake to pay homage to your cause by finally blessing you with a verse (and not even a verse on YOUR album, u want him to let YOU do a song on HIS album, I see what's going on here). Not only can you out sing him, but you can out rap him. If he's not coming to you for a verse or hook, reality is, he doesn't really want..deserve one and that's a sad situation because he should be honored that YOU even want to work with him. Just drop your LP on 9/27 and let the fans fill this void you've developed over not getting Drake to do a song with you.....and 9th (where did the and 9th) come from...what is this a joint venture to get a drake track now?).
I feel like these older artist are losing sight of their fans. I'm a 26 year old rap fiend who interviews and talks to artists regularly, and its become apparent to me that, what fans of the same demographic as myself want doesn't seem to be as important as it use to be to the artist we love. I just want my artist back. I don't know where sh*t got confused and lost in the New Era Grind shuffle, but I just want grown men artists to play the role rap dealt them, the way they once did so assuringly. Who am I suppose to look up to...Lil Wayne? That fool wears jeggings. Am I suppose to admire Drake? This dude whines and has happy-hand spasms while catching the holy ghost during shows. I dub myself Generation Lost, because I don't want to be a part of Generation Ex, and I'm damn sure too smart to hop in the car with Generation Why.
