STREAM: Cole World: The Sideline Story Snippets & Pre-order (uk)
Snippets Review (This is just a pre-review, not a final say)
1. Intro:
Its an intro. Nothing great. He just seems to be starting off the story of how Cole World came to be.2. Dollar and a Dream III
Beat is more orchestral and gives the song a more passion driven feel. Did Cole say "God got him. They say he wouldn't leave me, yet I'm falling like Autumn"... OH SH*T!! #JColeBack
3. Can't Get Enough
You've already heard this song. I already did a verdict. The song grows on my the more I hear it and the vide is posted below. Check it out.4. Lights Please
Ok, see. When I was young I use to ask, How come that song didn't make the album, but that was because they were songs that were ORIGINALLY suppose to be on the album, i.e.. Saigon's Pain in my Life ft. Trey Songz. Lights Please is a great song, but its damn near 2 years old. Nonetheless, still it a great song.5. Interlude
He's just continuing the story of how he got on top.6. Sideline Story
Yo this Jazzy little beat is ill. When Cole does a chorus like this, it works. However, I wish...I WISH, he'd got someone like Chrisette Michele or Erykah Badu or someone to do the hook for this song. It would have been phenomenal.7. Mr. Nice Watch ft. Jay-z
I can't really stand the chorus for this song. Jay-z's verse sounds so mailed in. The beat is really not that great, I've even seen people comparing it to Ghetto Techno (that's a bit harsh, its not that bad). This song could grow on me, but that chorus will always be a hang up. I will say, the beat flip during Jay-z's verse is off the chain. Whole song should have sounded like that.8. Cole World
I like it. I had to listen to the snippet a view times for the flow to grow on me. But I think this is going to be a great song. His dun-dun-dun ......dun-dun-dun...dun-dun-dun.......dun-dun-dun delivery along with the guitar in the background going along with him actually works. "A lot of niggas rap, but never blow, like heterosexuals". Can someone verify for me that this is what he said? I'm having a slow moment, cause I don't get it.9. In The Morning
This is his song with Drake from FNL. Again, I get that this song was popular and that Drake blessed it with dove tears and baby hugs but I would have prefered a new Drake x Cole song. Why Drake treating Cole like Tigallo yo!?10. Lost Ones
I can't remember the last time I heard this song and the sh*t came out this year. That's not a great sign. Its not a bad song. This was another one of those songs that sent DD and I on a tangent about Cole singing his hooks. The beat for this song is dope, but that damn hook could have been way better. Still a good song though.11. Nobody's Perfect
"They killing niggas for J's, that's death over designer". Now, maybe its just me, but Cole kind of sounds like Aubrey x Yeezy combined. I could be tripping and all, but, yea. Beat is ok, and the Dreezzy slo flow fits. Didn't hear enough of the hook to judge it. Songs sounds like it could fall victim to being forgettable.12. Never Told
Song sounds ok. I need to hear all of it though. Its very hard for me to judge it off this snippet because i didn't hear anything great, but I didn't hear anything bad either. The chorus starts off a little meh, but I could definitely see this being a lil chill club song or party joint.13. Rise And Shine
Finally! Something that has the same energy or almost the same "N*gga I'm Here!" energy that Cole's original single, Who Dat, had. This is definitely a song I'd have on repeat.14. God's Gift
Why is Jay-z...I mean J Cole rapping like Jay-z on Onto The Next One? Cole got a flow that works. There is no reason to borrow flows dude. I wonder how man times Cole is going to make a Cole/Cold15. Breakdownon this album. The beat is actually pretty dope. More uptempo joint. I one if there are any changes though, because I can't really tell from this snippet. I know I heard some sampled female vocals in the very beginning. All in all, sounds good to me.
Wow! I can't wait to hear this whole song. Great way to wrap up the album. I'm saying that without having even heard the full track. The beat is really developed. I hope he produced this, because i've never heard anything like this from him and would purely show his growth. I think I heard a Jazz Flute in this mythical, Narnia sounding joint!16. Work Out
Catchy little song. Nice little video. Meh, its bonus track worthy eventhough its a single release.
There you have it! At first, I was thinking WHY WOULD COLE ALLOW AMAZON TO DO THIS! But now that I've had a chance to hear it, I'm interested again. It doesn't sound like anything classic but it sounds good, maybe after a full listen it could be borderline great. But its definitely NOT bad, Thank Gawd 4 that!
