Joe Budden "Mood Muzik 4" *Album Review**

She don't like the words; she just like the beat, and I'm thinking "Me too!" Biatch!
#MM4
It's beyond ridiculous how a tiny quarrel with Method Man over the internet, followed by a live stream after getting into a minor scuffle with Raekwon's goony goons can propel an underground rapper to everyone's "hit" list. But really, who better than Joe Budden? He's never been afraid to be a jackass to prove a point. He's the guy that will step up and give the fans #realtalk every time; for that, I appreciate him as an emcee. Plus, that shit is entertaining! With all that said, can anyone really ignore the God given talent he possesses with a pen and pad.
Joey has consistently been able to talk about the darker side of things with such vivid imagery and emotion. Not only that, but he's one of the most ill and competitive artists out here-- just ask Saigon. So here we are with another Mood Muzik to add to the collection of what I personally consider to be some of the best mixtapes ever released in the history of underground hip hop. Is it a good addition or just another coaster?

C'mon son! C'mon...  This is Mood Muzik.  Joey ain't never made a bad Mood Muzik tape.  If there's anything people real hip hop fans look forward to now more than the annual Skillz "Rap Up", it's Mood Muzik tapes.  And Joey really pulled a "Lebron's Going to the Heat" with this one.  Not only was he releasing multiple Trailers for songs like "Stuck in the Moment", a more personal look into dealing with the stardom and keeping yourself grounded, but he was easily a trending topic on twitter that had fans beginning for this mixtape.  Then the leaks.  Some cuts we heard like "Black Cloud", a song about being misunderstood while dealing with the stress of the expectations, made the tape, while others like Inception, a more lyrical track that also points fun at Drake & Nicki Minaj's punchline deliveries, didn't.  And lets not forget about all the supposed features compared to the ones that actually were featured.  There was talk of Jay Electronica-- key word, was.

Maybe you're into Joe Buddens the person.  If that's you, then you'll enjoy tracks like Role Reversal where Joey describes how he feels being a good stepfather, but a less then satisfactory dad.  Or, you could become a fan of Inseperable, a song about dealing with the lose of loved ones while hoping you don't become lost.  If you're a little more angry and just need a little motivation to rock through it, then 1000 Faces is the perfect song for you.  My personal favorite is Role Reversal, you rarely ever hear a song like this.  Joey really has a gift for songs like this and it shines through prevalent on No Idea.
I found that when it comes to discussing paper, some'll sell they souls and deal with the repercussions later

What if you just need someone to drop some real talk.  Speak the damn truth and call out the lames for their tom foolery.  I'd recommend you through on Aftermath or Follow Your Lead, which features Joel Ortiz.  Both of these tracks not only have deep lyrics but they have a message that tells the listener to separate yourself from the negative masses; learn to read the foolish and how they handle life in such a fake way.

None of this working in your favor?  I see!  You're a lyrics person.  You a cat from Jerz or NY who just wants Joey to lace the microphone while trying to spit the hottest verse on track with a collective set of ill features.  If I were you, I'd just through Remember the Titans on repeat.  If Fabolous doesn't light up the both, then Joey will, but just in case Joey doesn't Lloyd Banks will.  And if else fails, Royce Da 5'9 to the rescue with a crazy as spaz verse.  You'll also get that street flow desired from Dessert for Though where Joey raps along side Pusha T and Styles P.

And Finally, for the people who like Storytime Joe, give Sober Up a listen for that Crooked I verse or check out Welcome to Real Life.  Sometimes things can get too real and you just need to laugh.  Well the Shoes Skit and the Mop Salad Skit/Short Song are gut wrenching.  All in all, this is definitely a great addition to the Mood Muzik series.
