Add-2 "Tale Of Two's City Vol. 4: Better Days" *Mixtape Review**

Black out, Hat low, Spaz Out, Here-we GO!

What happens when you take a conscience rapper from the birth home of common sense and link him with a stellar producer? You get a mixtape that I personally wish I could see on the Billboards. I really want to call this an album. The blend of well-crafted lyricism with relatively divulging substance over beats created from sampled horns, keys, and 70's soul music needs it's own blueprint in hip hop. Hopefully, other artists with a similar sound hear tapes like this and realize how good their music could sound with the write mindset and creativity. Okay, enough with all the praise and worship *1 more bow*. Lets run through some of these tracks...
Waiting so Long - Ill Meel definitely put in work on this production. With the sampled "Waiting so Long" you pretty much know Add-2 is about to lace this. Be prepared to nod.
My flow drowning these nigguhs; I ain't even seen FEMA. Keep killin bitches; I ain't even seen PETA

The Menace's Theme - Whenever a beat samples String instruments ( u know cello, viola, violin) its going to be crazy. When you add that fast rap Chi flow and necessary scratching during beat drops and break downs, its instantly a banger.

A Lover Letter to All My Ex's - The cut and mix of the sample really shines in your ear on this one.  Add-2 goes for a more chill yet breathess flow.  With features from Tanya Morgan, it's definitely got that cypher circle feel.

Dream Girl - This is the single.  That's the best way I can put it.  Add-2 really dedicates this one to ladies while talking about his dream girl, which is evident from the video for this track -- check out Fresh Listens to see the Video.  The beat really grabs your attention and the hook is simply addictive.

And She Said - Another track for the ladies.  The drum samples on this are just plain sick, especially towards the end of the song.

Spare Home - This is  the point where the horn samples start to play a major part in the production.  This street anthem sounding track with blazing horns is definitely not lacking in the punchline department.
"I work like an immigrant, you work like Tommy"  "I lost my mind fam, google couldn' map that"
As the World Burns - 70's style Jazzy Rhythm with alot of instruments at work.  Very melodical.  Would definitely sound great live.  The message about the inner turmoils and just trying to live ya life could be felt by anyone.

Dream Catcher - Is another relaxing beat that Add-2 rides with a more soft spoken flow.  If you've heard Add-2's previous tapes, then you won't be too surprised by his ability to tell very intricate personal tales of other people.

And from here the album just seems to get better and better.  With tracks like Cassette Tapes (my personal favorite), The Feeling is Gone, DGK, Black Out, When the Spotlight, Slow It Down, and Unhappy Hour you won't be able to stop hitting the repeat button.  There really is something for ever type of listener hear; except ignorant shit.  Not only does the production from different producers seem to flow as one, but the songs as a whole just come to life.  There are beats where is feels like Add-2 has stepped back in time about 30 years and introduced some band to the art of spitting.

People hear the term "Backpacker" and instantly want to negatively label an artist for being very personal, soulful, and crafty with their music.  In the age of Wake Flocka, Yelawolf, Big Sean, Big K.R.I.T, Wale, Wiz, and J. Cole,  Add-2 falls in place with the Mickey Factz's, the Tanya Morgan's, The Kidz in the Halls, Laws's, and basically anyone in 9th Wonder's IWW music group.  Yet he's different from all of them.  Not different in a good way, but different in a GREAT way!
