“As far as I’m concerned, most rap and hip-hop music — with it’s rape culture and insanely abusive lyrics and depictions of girls and women as ‘ho’s’ — is the contemporary soundtrack of misogyny." -- Ashley Judds oral leakage
As far as I'm concerned, dear, frankly, Who givesafuk? You saw P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg's names on a Youth AIDS supporters list and thought "rape culture". So you want to sell a book aye? You want to make a dollar off the backs of the culture by demoralizing them as a whole for the actions of a few. Should we call MOST white people devlish slave masters and heritage rapist for a few many who did it in a past existence. What the fuck does rape culture even mean? Well I guess she would know, because her people have been doing it to our people for years. I guarantee you Ashley Judd has not listened to a whole rap album in her life...MAYBE THE BEASTIE BOYS. Other than that, what we have here is a case of White Woman, You're Wrong. What has she been taking lessons from Dr. Laura or something. Speaking out of place is the new snuggie. We know its dumb, yet we can't help but snuggle up with it. She's doing the typical Fox News like slander that O'Reily has exploited so much, its the only thing we truly use to identify him, but never with him. Does this chick even know what she's saying. Stop letting these people who don't have an ounce of knowledge on a subject speak on it as if their word is almighty truth.
"Insanely abusive lyrics"
She has a point, rap does have some insanely abusive lyrics. You'd never hear the stuff we say, or see the violent stuff we do at concerts in Rock music. No way, they're less rapey than us. Probably because we live in an insanely abusive world with insanely abusive people that Judd herself has come face to face with in her past. Yea, we all know, you talk about it all the time. I commend you for being a strong women who worked through her ordeal and is trying to reach others in crisis. Yada Yada Ya-da... That doesn't mean you have to be a dumbass! You feel its ok to step on the backs of our culture to make a point? Did the person who "raped you" yell out NWA lyrics? Was he rocking a Flava Flav chain? Are these questions inappropriate, probably. Is she completely out of line with her rash, I'm white so I'm right statements, YES! I'm tired of white people getting mad at what is being promoted to their culture by their own people. Black people don't own these huge record labels who sign these artists that contribute to "the contemporary soundtrack of misogyny". No disrespect, but HEAUX SIT DOWN-- as my buddy MsMusicLover would say. You pointed the finger at a whole people and expected us to not take offense. So you thought you would sucker us into reading your book to help us fully understand where you're coming from? Shut the fuck up! Simple as that. I don't need to write a autobiography of my subjective views on you for you to get where I'm coming from.
So after you get attacked and bashed all to hell on twitter, you decided to sit down with Russell Simmons and have a talk
..."My intention was to support artists to know that they have so much power. That they make incredible life changing impressions, particularly on the young. And we have choices everyday with our expressions, either empower and celebrate people or to re-enforce inequality and degradation,"
Oh! Well there you go. My bad. I guess I mis-understood. Obviously, I was suppose to have gotten all of this from the remarks you made about my peoples music and movement, 30 years strong? My bad. I take all my FU's back.
"There are elements, and that is the part that has been so distorted... what I'm being accused of is condemning rap and hip-hop as a whole, and the whole community and when they say community, they mean the fans, and African-Americans, it's become so generalized."
See people, there are "elements". It's all about the "elements". Can't forget about those "elements". Especially the "distorted" "elements". Aight, this air quotation gesture is getting a little played out. She's right, the word culture is so generalized these days. I mean, it use to mean:
Culture - 1. These patterns, traits, and products considered as the expression of a particular period, class, community, or population 2. Intellectual and artistic activity and the works produced by it.
Obviously the community of Hip Hop and African Americans isn't the same thing. She was just talking about the Hip Hop Culture. Its possible to condemn "Hip Hop as a whole" but not be condemning the Hip Hop community, the fans, or African Americans right? WHO THE FUCK LET THIS CHICK OUT HER CAGE MAN! See this is why women should only be allowed in the kitchen and the bedroom. If someone would have just handed her an apron at a young age, she'd be less intelligent today, which would have made her more intelligent in the long run. Having intellectual thoughts is a lot to handle, especially for a women. Remember people, they have smaller heads because they have smaller brains. But I'm not speaking on all women when I say this. Just the women without aprons and the fans of women with out aprons, and Caucasian Women. Don't want to generalize or anything. -- Sarcasm people.
And just when you think they're going to take Ashley Judd's mic away...
"My intention was to take a stand to say the elements of that musical expression that are misogynistic and treat girls and women in a hyper-sexualized way that are inappropriate. That is not acceptable in any artistic expression, in any cultural form, whether its country music or in television story lines. And if they read more than one paragraph in the book, they would see that all four hundred pages are about that,"
SMH. See...remember all those FU's I took back. Yeaaah! You can go ahead and keep those. I like how she tried to save heself by now mentioning OTHER forms of music where these types of lyrics are innappropriate. But I don't remember her saying there were red flags because she saw Lady Antebellum or Taylor Swift's names on the YouthAIDs supporters list. I guess us niggas can't be supporters of groups like YouthAIDS. You know, because of all the video hoes, and drugs, and black people in our music. Just way too many black people on television these days. They should have never gave our televisions equal rights and "color". Black Face was definitely less rape-culturey than Hip Hop. Man get her and her book of tears the fuck out my face. *throws on some Jay-z 99 Problems(But a Bitch Ain't 1)*
