Netflix Upgrades to Video Games by Mail with Qwikster

Most of you, woke up this morning, checked your emails, and noticed a nice little notice from Netflix. It a warm and comforting mass memo from Reed Hastings, the CEO and Co-Founder (its on the email). If you took the time to read this, its basically and apology and a new service announcement all wrapped in Netflix banner. The apology is for the way Netflix announced months ago that it was separating streaming service from DVD by Mail service. That day will live in Netflix infamy. Its been nothing but bad meaning bad, not bad meaning good for Reed ever since he decided to scratch his itchy palms. Just a little itch and now Netflix has lost over 1 million subscribers, stock's down, and projections for users only continues to fall. But maybe, gReedy isn't that at all. He's just been laying the ground work for the final blow needed to cut the head off a slow moving body, formally known as Blockbuster.

According to Reed,
It’s hard to write this after over 10 years of mailing DVDs with pride, but we think it is necessary: In a few weeks, we will rename our DVD by mail service to “Qwikster”. We chose the name Qwikster because it refers to quick delivery. We will keep the name “Netflix” for streaming.

I bet you all thought they were going to reunite Streaming and DVD by mail! But oh no, Reed ain't no fool. He's just simply finding a nicer way to tell you that all the kick and screaming you did months ago, doesn't mean a damn thing to the Co-founder of a Billion Dollar movie rental business. Honestly, Reed should just sent out a mass email that simply read, "Are you done yet? Good! We got Video Games by Mail now B*tch! Suck on that Blockbusted!". But, alas, he keeps it very professional and continues to give us the great news:
Qwikster will be the same website and DVD service that everyone is used to. It is just a new name, and DVD members will go to qwikster.com to access their DVD queues and choose movies. One improvement we will make at launch is to add a video games upgrade option, similar to our upgrade option for Blu-ray, for those who want to rent Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Members have been asking for video games for many years, but now that DVD by mail has its own team, we are finally getting it done. Other improvements will follow. A negative of the renaming and separation is that the Qwikster.com and Netflix.com websites will not be integrated.
Now, I have one important question. Most of you who have Netflix streaming are aware that they don't have NEW RELEASES. However, they do have new dvds for by mail, so I guess they will also have new video games for by mail. I hope they don't have like GTA: San Andreas for rental, with a caption under the pictures for GTA IV that reads "Coming Soon". I'm just saying people.

Either way, could this be the end for Blockbus...who are you kidding, F*CK YEA!! Its definitely the end for Big Blue.

I wonder what gamefly is thinking right now. Are they safe? Is anyone safe anymore? Watch your back Hulu; you could be next.
