Troy Ave is one of those rapper's you've heard about and have either listened and like him or just not listened at all yet.  I'm the outlier in this circumstance.  I've listened but I haven't been convinced to follow the followers yet.  This could be the tape that makes me a true believer...

Thee Tom Hardy - Guerilla Broadcast (MIXTAPE)

My psychic abilities are so on point this month.  I need to open a hotline today and make this future money.  I called this release a while back, just had no idea what the title of the project was.  Tom just seemed to fall off the radar for a while.  Then, out of nowhere, up pops these tracks on Bandcamp that are undeniably fiyah!  I don't know what happened to his push --let's just say I'm not seeing a collective gang of retweets for this mixtape.  But that doesn't matter to me.  I'll retweet the hell out of it, because I know it's dope

The Mixtape features production from Jaisu, Fatin, Eric G., Thee Band Geeks, and more.  There are also some lyrical appearances by Scoopay of M1 Platoon and King Mez.  This Joint Goes!

DMX - The Weigh In (EP)

Earl Simmons is out of prison and in the studio cooking up....well he's cooking.  Let's just leave it at that.  With the whole VH1 Couples Therapy fiasco, DMX wasted no time piggy backing off such a risky PR move and dropping an EP for the fans. 

The Weigh In includes 11 new tracks with just as much barking as every DMX project.  Some of the features include, Big Stan, Snoop Dogg -- on the hook and adlibs --, and production from Dre. 

From what I've heard so far, it's some recycled beats, and questionable engineering.  But it's still raw DMX spitting just as animated as he's always done.  If you've been waiting for some judicial leniency --word of the day calendar-- so X could get back to makeing music.  This mixtape....is for you.  Enjoy.

Beanie Sigel - Broadstreet Empire Vol.1: Lost Files [MIXTAPE] (Short Review)

#BeansBack? As I'm writing out this quick-descript, I'm listening for that SP Beanie Sigel that we lost after The B.Coming .  Yea, I don't count The Solution because everything was a problem from that point up until recently.  After the embarrasment that was damn near every Beans track after his prison release due to his frustration with Jay and Dame,...,etc, Beans is back! The mixtape opens up with some hard hitting Beans over some soul samples.  A few simple beat flips that work to set the mood of the mixtape.  The first few songs are simply Beans clearing the air about the many situations he's dealt/dealing with. While I respect "The Show Must Go On" I quickly developed a bad taste in my mouth during "The Pay Back", which is an obvious diss to Jay-z.  Nobody's listening to you Beans; just move on.   From that point on though, it's just Broadstreet Beat Bullying.  There's no commercial sing-songy sounding sh*t on here.  If you missed the Beans that dissed Kiss, that spit "The Truth", that just wasn't the type of beast emcee you'd want to f*ck with, then this tape is for you. While this is definitely a good look for a simple mixtape, Beans has to step up the quality of the production for his upcoming album The New Classic.  You get a little bit of everything with this album, dope lyrics, raw feel, good pacing, etc.  But Above all, I'd have to say I really appreciated the appearances by Freeway and Young Gunz.  It was just so State Property in those moments.  Beans Fans Need This!! 
Please excuse some of the "noisy" engineering choices present on tracks like "B Boy Stance".
